NEW YORK| FEBRUARY 27, 2024 - The National Coffee Association (NCA) is proud to name Kathryn Lawson of Nestlé USA as the recipient of the 2024 NCA Volunteer of the Year Award, sponsored by Eight O'Clock Coffee Company, in recognition of her efforts bringing expert scientific insights and critical analysis to the coffee community.
In addition to her role as Nestlé’s Director for Regulatory and Scientific Affairs, Ms. Lawson has served on the NCA’s Science Leadership Council (SLC) since 2020. She began serving as SLC Chair in early 2023, leading the SLC’s strategic direction and operational workstream. She excels at bringing together experts with diverse views to facilitate progress and enable consensus as the coffee industry navigates complex issues.
NCA President and CEO William “Bill” Murray commented:
“Kathryn’s vision, exceptional analytical skills, and strategic leadership have been critical in identifying and seizing opportunities to dig into the science that helps keep consumers, regulators, and policymakers accurately informed about America’s favorite beverage. Her efforts are invaluable and deeply appreciated by her peers and the entire coffee community.”
Ms. Lawson added:
“It has been an honor to work with the SLC over the past few years, and I am humbled to receive this recognition. I want to thank all the SLC members for their work and dedication, without which our progress on behalf of the coffee community would not be possible.”
