Volunteer of the Year Award
The dedication and expertise of NCA member volunteers makes our work possible - especially given the association’s small staff.
All of our volunteers give back to our industry in many important ways. Each year, the NCA recognizes one outstanding volunteer who stands out for his/her overall leadership and contributions during the past year.
The award is presented onstage at the NCA Annual Convention.
Award Eligibility and Nomination
The NCA encourages all members to submit nominations for the Volunteer of the Year. Nominees are reviewed by the Board-level External and Member Relations Committee and selected by majority vote.
To nominate a candidate for the NCA Volunteer of the Year Award, please submit this form, in addition to a letter support describing how the candidate has gone above and beyond to serve as a positive example to others, while advancing the mission of the NCA. (NCA Member Access Only)
All applications must be received by September 15. Please review the criteria for NCA Volunteer of the Year Award eligibility.
2020 Volunteer of the Year: Brandon Jackson
As the founder and former Chairman of the NCA Next Generation Council, Mr. Jackson has made a lasting impact on the direction of both the Council and the Association. He played a central role in developing the Council’s bylaws, laying a solid foundation for growing and strengthening its membership, and has worked tirelessly to lay out and implement a strategic vision for the Council’s future. All the while, Mr. Jackson has generously donated his time to the “next generation” of burgeoning coffee professionals, serving as a mentor and teacher to some of the industry’s brightest young minds -- including the Council’s current leadership. Even in his position as Past Chair, Mr. Jackson continues to proactively engage the Council in activities and events, such as arranging the Council’s participation in the Swiss Coffee Trade Association’s 2019 Gala Dinner.
In addition to his work on the Next Generation Council, Mr. Jackson also serves on the Board of Directors of the Green Coffee Association and is a Senior Vice President in the Commodities & Logistics (C&L) Group at (NCA Member organization) Brown Brothers Harriman, where he has worked since 2008.
Thank you, Brandon!
