NCA Commitment to Small Business Since its formation nearly a hundred years ago, the National Coffee Association has been committed to the well being of the entire coffee industry — that includes coffee companies big and small. The specialty coffee boom of the past two decades has transformed the small business segment of the industry in many ways, creating new opportunities for the NCA to meet new and emerging needs. Though the NCA has always supported the small business community, the Association has made a conscious effort in recent years to provide more valued benefits of particular relevance to small business members; whether they are small or micro roasters, small chain or single store coffee cafes, small lot importers, or growers.

NCA held it biennial Coffee on the Hill reception in Washington, DC on October 23. The event attracted roughly 500 attendees, including members of Congress, foreign diplomats and executive branch personnel. Bringing the industry and its issues literally to the halls of Congress, Coffee on the Hill was held in the Rayburn House Office Building, which houses offices of members of Congress from throughout the U.S.(more)

NCA has again filed comments with the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to provide industry input as the agency continues to issue regulations to implement the Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA). The comments address proposed rules for one of FSMA’s most fundamental provisions, Preventive Controls, along with related provisions on Hazard Analysis, changes to Current Good Manufacturing Processes, and Produce Safety.(more)
