NCA Local Day of Service

Due to popular demand, registration to the Day of Service is temporarily suspended.

In the spirit of Thanksgiving  -- and with heavy hearts over the devastation and loss from Superstorm Sandy -- The National Coffee Association invites our members and industry friends to join together at the Food Bank for New York City to help those in need.

Price:   There is NO charge for this event, but registration is required.

When:  Friday, November 30th, 2012 - 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM

Where: Food Bank for New York City (Bronx Food Distribution Warehouse)

Directions:
By Public Transportation
- Take the 6 train to Hunts Point Avenue and exit near the intersection of East 163rd St. and Southern Blvd. Start going south east on Hunts Point Ave. and take the Bx6 bus from Hunts Point Av. - Bruckner Blvd. station heading to Hunts Point. After an estimated 6 minute bus ride, get off at Food Center - Opp National Food. Go west on Food Center Dr. towards Halleck St. and then turn left onto Halleck St.  You must then turn right onto Ryawa Ave. (Food Center Dr).

Volunteer Information:
National Coffee Association volunteers will work with the staff at Food Bank to repack large donations received in bulk containers into sizes suitable for soup kitchens and food pantries. About Food Bank for New York City:
Every weekday food is collected, stored, repacked and distributed to a network of approximately 1,000 community-based member programs throughout the five boroughs from the Food Bank's 90,000 sq. ft. warehouse in Hunts Point, Bronx. The Food Bank distributes millions of pounds of food every year, including approximately 13 million pounds of fresh produce and more than 1 million pounds of meat and seafood. To date, the Food Bank has distributed more than 958 million pounds of food.
