Committee Mission Statements

Government Affairs Committee.

The Government Affairs Committee recommends policies and positions on NCA legislative and regulatory issues at the all levels of government, including international affairs. It advises on the scope and nature of government advocacy efforts and proposes programs to inform and enhance the interest and involvement of members on government-oriented matters. The Committee is structured with two sub-committees: Traffic and Technical & Regulatory Affairs.

Market Research Committee.

The Market Research Committee recommends policies and programs regarding consumer market research. The Committee advises professional management on pertinent information to be contained in the Association’s market research reports and publications. It provides research and technical support on market research issues.

Public Relations Committee.

The Public Relations Committee develops and recommends policies, positions and promotional activities related to enhancing and protecting the image of the coffee industry and the National Coffee Association.  The Committee anticipates, prepares for, and facilitates response to new information about coffee, caffeine and health, and any resulting shift in attitude among media, consumers, the medical community and government bodies.

Scientific Advisory Group.

The Scientific Advisory Group (SAG) maintains scientific expertise on the health effects of coffee and caffeine, and recommends and supports the undertaking of scientific research on coffee or caffeine involving the health effects of either. It also evaluates scientific literature to determine its impact on the coffee industry and when appropriate, advises the Public Relations Committee of scientific research that has the potential of impacting the reputation of coffee in positive and negative ways.

Technical and Regulatory Affairs Committee.

The Technical and Regulatory Affairs Committee advises on the implications of proposed technical legislation and regulations. From a proactive standpoint, it also recommends policy and positions on standing technical law and regulations that are not conducive to conducting business in the coffee industry.
